The Manchester United legend believes Ruben Amorim has the potential to turn things around at Old Trafford, but highlights a key area that needs attention.

Ruben Amorim has been backed to take Manchester United back to winning ways, but he has to hack one thing, as observed by Ryan Giggs.

The Portuguese has endured a tough season at Old Trafford but has since been given a hint of how to bounce back by the Manchester United legend.

Ryan Giggs worked under Louis van Gaal as part of the coaching staff from 2014 to 2016, and admitted that even during his time at the club, they struggled to sign players at Manchester United.

He is optimistic about Ruben Amorim’s charges, noting that he just needs time to figure things out and the board’s support in identifying the right players for the club to succeed.

He pointed out that as a coach, signing players needs a bit of luck, and some young players coming in too. He pointed out the likes of Eric Cantona, Andrei Kanchelskis, and Peter Schmeichel as some of the impressive signings that were made at Manchester United.

“The recruitment in the last, and I was part of it, the last 10-12 years has just been not good enough. Any business, any football team needs that recruitment,” he said on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast.

“I think he's charismatic, he needs time, he needs a few transfer windows, he needs backing, but also he needs help on what is a United player and what a United player looks like.”

Manchester United are busy scouting for talent ahead of the upcoming transfer window, with several players like Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford set to leave the club.

Recently, there have been rumours about Wolves star Matheus Cunha being on the radar for the Red Devils, with Manchester United edging closer to signing the Brazilian.

Manchester United have struggled to score goals this season and are currently ranked 14th on the Premier League table, and are on course to finish in their lowest position.

However, they have a chance for redemption in the UEFA Europa League as they progressed to the semi-final of the competition after a stunning 5-4 second-leg comeback win against Lyon. They are set to face LaLiga outfit Athletic Bilbao.
