Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has lamented about a specific aspect of the game that is dragging his charges. Find out why the Portuguese cut a frustrated figure at Old Trafford

Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has called on his charges to improve their fortunes in front of goal after a lacklustre performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English Premier League encounter.

United lost 1-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday courtesy of Pablo Sarabia's solo strike which was Wolves' first shot on target according to the Daily Mail.

The Red Devils profligacy in front of goal was on display, with former Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund guilty of spanning two glorious chances to end his four-month Old Trafford goal drought.

United captain Bruno Fernandes cut a frustrated figure after he miscued two crosses when sent on from the bench, as Amorim was left flabbergasted with how his team has been unconvincing in the most part of the season.

How Ruben Amorim reacted

"If you look at the game we were the better team but in the end it doesn't matter. If we don't score goals nothing matters because in the end it is the result that counts, especially in these kinds of moments.

"We create a lot of chances and we controlled the game. We blocked some good players from the opponent but then one set piece changes the game and that's it, it's really frustrating to end the game like this."

United will have to address their scoring woes by breaking bank to sign a proven striker. The Red Devils have been linked with the likes of Victor Osimhen as well as Loan Delap but Amorim remained tight-lipped.

"We will address that in the end. Of course we have a plan and we talk about that every day but the season is not over so let's focus on that.

"It's a team thing. Of course we have an idea of what this team needs but also the guys we play with, we play at least three guys in front to score goals and we have midfielders… all the team needs to score more goals and you have opportunities with the midfielders and the striker."

Rasmus Hojlund not good enough?

A lot of the frustration from United fans was directed at Hojlund, particularly after he failed to convert Alejandro Garnacho's left-wing cross on the slide from a couple of yards out.

The Dane has managed just one goal in the last 29 hours.

United face Bournemouth before they travel out to Spain to face Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final tie.
