The Harambee Stars left-back will miss the Four Nations Tournament in Malawi due to injury, dealing a blow to both club and country ahead of the crucial competition.

Harambee Stars left-back Erick 'Marcelo' Ouma will unfortunately miss the upcoming Four Nations Tournament in Malawi due to injury.

The defender, who plays for Rakow Czestochowa, sustained the injury during their Polish top-flight match against Korona Kielce, which ended in a 2-0 victory for Rakow.

Ouma's distressing moment came in the 54th minute of the game when he was forced off the field on a stretcher, raising concerns about his availability for the crucial tournament.

Rakow Czestochowa has confirmed that Ouma will be sidelined for up to three to four weeks due to a tear in the biceps femoris muscle, as revealed by tests conducted after the match.

This news comes as a significant blow for both club and country, as Ouma's absence will leave a void in the lineup.

Despite his injury, Ouma showcased promising form in the match against Korona Kielce and even came close to scoring a third goal before being substituted for Jean Carlos just four minutes before the hour mark.

While Rakow celebrated their victory over Korona Kielce, Ouma's potential absence poses challenges for the team as they strive for success in the league.

The win propelled Rakow to third place in the league standings, with 43 points, trailing leaders Jagiellonia by only two points.

Ouma joins the ranks of other notable absentees in the Harambee Stars squad, including Stade de Reins defender Joseph Okumu, who has been battling an adductor injury sustained last month but was still named in the squad for the tournament.

The Four Nations Tournament, scheduled from Thursday 23 to Tuesday 26 March 2024, is expected to witness intense competition among Harambee Stars, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and hosts Malawi, with matches taking place in Blantyre and Lilongwe.

Commenting on Ouma's injury and its impact, Rakow Czestochowa stated, "Erick Otieno finished Wednesday's match with an injury. Tests showed a tear of the biceps femoris muscle. Erick's break will last approximately 3-4 weeks."

In light of Ouma's injury, Harambee Stars coach will have to reshuffle the squad and devise strategies to compensate for his absence, ensuring that the team remains competitive in the Four Nations Tournament.
