Eric Ouma's return from injury is a significant boost for Kenya ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June.

Harambee Stars and Rakow Czestochowa defender Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma has returned to action after recovering from a hamstring injury that had sidelined him for weeks.

Ouma, who was sidelined since Wednesday 13 March due to a tear in the biceps femoris muscle, made his comeback in the Polish top-flight league during a tightly contested match against Ruch Chorzów, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

The 27-year-old fullback was eagerly anticipated on the pitch and did not disappoint, entering the game in the 81st minute and showcasing his prowess, despite the limited time.

His injury had previously kept him out of crucial international friendlies for Kenya against Malawi and Zimbabwe, making his return all the more significant.

Rakow Czestochowa initially took the lead thanks to a stunning strike from Ante Crnac just before the 25-minute mark.

Crnac's goal, a powerful shot from outside the penalty area, set the tone for what was to be a highly competitive game.

Despite the efforts of Ruch Chorzów to level the score, including notable attempts by Soma Novothy and crucial clearances by Dante Stipica, the first half concluded with Raków holding onto their lead.

The second half saw an intensified attack from both sides, with Crnac threatening the goal once more and Lukasz Moneta eventually finding the back of the net for Ruch Chorzów, securing a draw in the closing moments of the match.

Ouma's return is more than just a player coming back from injury; it represents a boost for Rakow Czestochowa as they continue their campaign in the PKO BP Ekstraklasa.

Known for his speed, defensive capabilities, and ability to contribute to the team's offensive plays, Ouma is a valuable asset to the team.

His comeback is timely as Rakow seeks to maintain and improve their standing in the league.
