CAF CL Gift Fred eyeing debut as Aucho, Lwanga seek better fortunes in CAF Champions League

The first leg of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League round will be played between Friday 18th to Sunday 20th August around the continent.

Besides Vipers Sports Club, there will be a number of Uganda Cranes players who will be in action over the weekend as the 2023/24 CAF Champions League kicks off with the first legs of the round one fixtures.

The Ugandan Premier League champions will travel to Lobatse Stadium, one of the facilities picked in Botswana’s AFCON 2027 bid.

Elsewhere in Rwanda, Ugandan midfielder Tadeo Lwanga will captain his new side APR at home against Gaadiidka from Somalia.

The match will be played on Saturday, 19th August at the Kigali Pele Stadium.

In Djibouti, former SC Villa defender Gift Fred will look to debut at the international club stage when Young Africans take on Djibouti Telecom.

He will hope to play alongside his compatriot Khalid Aucho.

Yanga will be looking to replicate the form that they exhibited last season, where they reached the final of the CAF Confederations Cup.
