The wing back, who was drafted into the Harambee Stars squad in October 2023, was playing League One football for Exeter last season.

Kenyan international Vincent Harper has signed a two-year deal with Walsall, with the League Two club holding the option of a third year.

The 24-year-old arrives from Exeter City, where he made 65 appearances in League One over the past two seasons.

Despite attracting interest from several clubs in League Two, Harper opted to join the Saddlers — a decision he says was driven by the club’s ambition and his positive experience playing at the Bescot Stadium last season.

Harper, a left-sided wing-back known for his pace and athleticism, is expected to bring both attacking energy and defensive solidity to Mat Sadler’s side.

“I’m buzzing,” said Harper to the club's website after completing the move. “I’m happy to finally get it all sorted and I’m looking forward to getting started.

"Speaking to the gaffer and what he’s got planned sold it to me. Playing here at the start of last season, I liked the vibe and the atmosphere, so when it came about I wanted to get involved straight away.”

“I like to defend, I like to attack — I’m nice and dynamic and I like to have fun on the pitch. I want to do the best I can and help the team win games.”

Harper, who was born in England but qualifies to represent Kenya through his heritage, received his first senior international call-up in October 2023, when he was named on the bench for a friendly against Russia.

He began his career in the Bristol City academy and spent time on loan with Gloucester City, Weston-super-Mare, and Bath City before being released in 2021.

After a brief spell with Chippenham Town, he joined National League side Eastleigh, where his performances — including four goals in the 2022–23 season — earned him a move to Exeter.

Walsall Head Coach Mat Sadler praised the club's latest addition, noting Harper’s proven pedigree at a higher level and his standout athleticism.

“Vincent is a very explosive wing-back with a very athletic profile,” Sadler said. “He’s quick, likes to get at his man, but he’s a very good one-v-one defender as well.

“He’s coming off the back of a strong run of games in League One and was highly sought after by a lot of clubs in our division. We’re really pleased to get him in.”

Walsall are expected to continue strengthening their squad in the coming weeks as they target a push toward the top half of League Two.
