Sports Registrar Allegedly Cancelled the Elections
)
According to reports, the Sports Registrar, Rose Wasike, had officially cancelled the AFC Leopards elections.
The elections were reportedly rescheduled for June 2026 to align with the conclusion of the current executive committee’s four-year term under Chairman Dan Shikanda.
The cancellation comes unexpectedly, just as preparations for the elections were underway. The polls were anticipated to usher in a new chairperson following Shikanda’s election to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) National Executive Committee (NEC) as Nairobi’s representative in December 2024.
The Sports Registrar halted the process, noting that the club’s constitutional timeline does not meet the expected standards.
“The Sports Registrar has officially cancelled AFC Leopards’ elections that were scheduled for June 29,” a post by @TeyaKevin stated.
There is no clear way forward on whether elections will be held this year or will have to wait until 2026 for fans to select new leaders.
