According to reports, Chelsea are close to agreeing on a deal to sign Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal with personal terms already agreed upon.

Negotiations between both clubs over a possible move for the forward started earlier this week and have now taken a huge step.

Jackson, who has been sensational for Villarreal, helping them qualify for European football next season and scored 12 goals in 26 games last season.

His performance has caught the eye of Chelsea's new boss Mauricio Pochettino with the Blues already negotiating a fee with Villarreal for his signature.

It is just a matter of days before the deal will be completed as Chelsea close in on the youngster.

Jackson’s release clause

Nicolas Jackson has a release clause of £29.8 million which has been inserted in his contract with Villarreal.

According to Football London, the Senegalese is expected to move to Chelsea this summer after his release clause has been paid.

Chelsea has been searching for a new centre-forward to attempt and improve their appalling goal-scoring record from the previous season.

In their 38 Premier League games last season, they only managed to score 38 goals, two of the three relegated teams scored more.

Chelsea weighing other options

Chelsea are currently looking to buy a goalkeeper, midfielder and a forward as they plan ahead for the new season.

Football London understands that Jackson's addition is not anticipated to be the only offensive bolster this summer.

The Blues have also been linked with a move for Brighton's Moises Caicedo and the Ecuadorian could cost roughly £100 million.

After indications that Arsenal was no longer in the running and has given a deal for Declan Rice a top priority, Chelsea now appears to have a clear road to signing Caicedo.
