CHAN 2024: LOC Chairman Reveals When Nations Using Nyayo and Kasarani Touch Down in Kenya

Nicholas Musonye has revealed when participating CHAN 2024 teams will begin arriving in Kenya as preparations ramp up for group stage matches at Kasarani and Nyayo Stadiums.

With the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) fast approaching, Local Organizing Committee (LOC) chairman Nicholas Musonye has confirmed that participating teams are expected to start arriving in Kenya in the week beginning Monday, July 14.

Musonye emphasized that preparations are in high gear to ensure a smooth welcome and stay for all teams.

“We’ve already received their arrival schedules and are ensuring everything runs flawlessly, including allocating training grounds to the participating teams,” Musonye stated.

Kenya, one of the three CHAN 2024 co-hosts alongside Tanzania and Uganda, is set to host Group A matches at the newly refurbished Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The home side, Harambee Stars, will kick off their campaign against DR Congo on August 3.

This will be followed by a crucial fixture against Angola on August 7, then a high-stakes tie with North African powerhouse Morocco on August 10.

Kenya will round off their group stage schedule with a clash against Zambia on August 17, following a week's rest.

The historic Nyayo National Stadium will also play a pivotal role during the tournament.

Its opening match will see Morocco go head-to-head with Angola in a much-anticipated clash.

Other Group A teams including Zambia and DR Congo are also scheduled to use the venue.

One of the marquee matchups of the entire tournament is set for August 18 at Nyayo, where Algeria will square off with Nigeria, a fixture expected to draw significant attention across the continent.

As the countdown continues, all eyes will be on Kenya to deliver a world-class sporting experience and showcase its readiness to host a major continental tournament.
