AFC Leopards boss Tomas Trucha has explained what new signing Kennedy Owino will need to perform to the kevel he expects.

AFC Leopards coach Tomas Trucha has analysed Ken Owino’s full debut for the club during their 3-0 win over PAC University last weekend.

Owino missed the first three games due to a mixture of failing to meet registration deadlines on time (before the Kariobangi Sharks match) and suffering a knock before the Murang’a Seals match.

Now, Trucha has assessed his performance and revealed what he will need to be at his best in an Ingwe shirt.

“He needs more game time. He lost a lot of games (he could have been involved in after signing), he lost a lot of training time, so he needs some time to be sharp again," Trucha told Box to Box.

Trucha has waxed lyrical about Owino, describing him as one of the league’s best.

“He is one of the best central defenders in the league,” Trucha said.

Meanwhile, Trucha has revealed his side’s transfer strategy since his return to the team, which could have played a huge role in their revival so far this season.

Trucha returned to Leopards last October and despite a slow start, has gotten his side to gain momentum, failing to lose any of their last eight games, with seven of those wins.

Some of his January signings have also adapted well to his demands already, including Arthur Gitego and Ken Owino, who made his first full start against PAC University last weekend, while Gitego netted his first three goals for the club in the same match.

The club also managed to bring Christopher Koloti to the club from Green Commandos of Kakamega High School, but the budding striker is viewed as one for the future.

Now, Trucha has revealed how the club managed to sign players in January, and the transfer strategy moving forward.

“We have some small scouting team, some guys, from the former players and my analysts, even the Team Manager (Bernard Mang’oli) and the coaches, they are involved so I try to see as much as possible games either live or on TV," he added.

“We are still looking at some players for next season, so all these signings came through discussions with the management and with coaches, so we know we need to sign and strengthen the team.

“I believe we will have more signings in June or July.”
