Harambee Starlets goalkeeper Lilian Awuor has left French Division One outfit Soyaux Women for Romania after struggling for playing time.

Harambee Starlets goalkeeper Lilian Awuor has joined Romania's top-tier side Farul Constanta.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper, who initially signed a three-year deal with Soyaux in January 2022, found playing time elusive, leading to her losing the coveted number-one position with the Kenyan women's national team.

Farul Constanta, currently in pursuit of their first championship title, welcomed Awuor to their ranks.

"The women's team of Lighthouse continues to fight to achieve the goal: the first championship title. After acquiring the services of Tabita Tailoru, goalkeeper Lilian Onyango Awuor has joined the team. 24-year-old Lilian is part of the Kenyan national team that has participated in the Africa Cup of Nations," the club said in a statement.

Expressing her excitement about the move, Awuor stated, "I am happy to be part of this team. I promise to the Lighthouse fans that I will not disappoint them."

Awuor's journey includes a brief stint with Olympique De Valence, where she played until December 2023.

Before her European ventures, she had a successful spell with Vihiga Queens after completing her KCSE at Nyakach Girls in 2017.

At Vihiga Queens, Awuor played a pivotal role in the team's representation at the inaugural 2021 CAF Women's Champions League in Egypt. Despite being eliminated in the group stage, her experience added valuable depth to her professional profile.

The talented goalkeeper, who also doubles as a Harambee Starlets keeper, has a rich history with the national team.

Awuor represented Kenya at the 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations, initially serving as one of the backup goalkeepers to Samantha Akinyi.

She marked her official debut for the team during the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Sudan.
