AFC Leopards coach Tomas Trucha reflects on crucial FKF Cup win as he prepares his charges for semifinal against Kenya Police FC.

AFC Leopards head coach Tomas Trucha expressed his satisfaction as his team secured a spot in the semifinals of the FKF Cup following a convincing 3-1 victory over Compel FC at Dandora Stadium on Sunday.

The match began with a stunning moment for Compel FC as Philip Simiyu fired his team into the lead in the very first minute momentarily silencing the usually vibrant Isukuti beats from the home fans.

Leopards quickly regrouped and turned the game around with a powerful display of football highlighting their Premier League quality against their Division 2 opponents.

Reflecting on the performance Trucha noted the critical nature of the win over the Webuye-based outfit.

"It was a match that we needed to win; there were no excuses we could have given if we had not won this game. We reacted well after conceding the first goal. We gifted the opponents a goal but later controlled the game," he said.

The turning point came in the 28th minute when Harambee Stars prodigy Kaycie Odhiambo leveled the score with a precise header from Clifton Miheso's corner kick.

The goal revitalized Ingwe fans restoring the lively atmosphere at Dandora Stadium.

Just before half-time Rwandan import Arthur Gitego added a second capitalizing on a rebound off the Compel defense to give his team the lead.

Giteg sealed the victory in the 63rd minute with a spectacular strike from the edge of the box marking his second goal of the game and putting an indomitable stamp on their semifinal qualification.

Trucha praised Gitego's performance and the team's overall resilience.

"The quality is different; they play in Division One and we play in the Premier League, but all my players were good. We will have a different approach against the Police, and I know they will be tougher than Gor Mahia since they have been winning games," he said.

Looking ahead, AFC Leopards are set to face Kenya Police FC in the semifinals next weekend at the same venue.

The upcoming match promises to be a challenging encounter as Police FC have shown strong form throughout the tournament.
