The Selecao have been without a head coach since Tite resigned.

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has said Carlo Ancelotti is Brazil’s likely next head coach.

The Italian has been linked with the Selecao's top job since the South Americans exited the World Cup at the 2022 edition in Qatar.

Ederson said he has talked with some of his teammates, and the Real Madrid boss is likely to take over.

The coaching position has been vacant since Tite left the post following the World Cup disappointment at the hands of Croatia in a post-match shootout in the quarter-finals.

"I spoke to Casemiro, Vinicius, and Militao," Ederson explained, as quoted by Daily Mail.

"It's a great possibility that Ancelotti arrives, so we'll try to make it happen as soon as possible. I've been told that he's exceptional, everyone likes him, and he's a winner. We'll see in the near future if that's the case."

Although the former AC Milan, PSG, and Chelsea manager is one of the most successful active coaches, he has never been in charge of a national team.

In February, he was massively linked with the Selecao job, but the Brazilian federation denied the rumours. The other manager to have been linked with the job is AS Roma's Jose Mourinho.

"President Ednaldo Rodrigues maintains the statements given after the drawing of the matches for the Copa do Brasil," said the federation regarding the reports.

"At the time, the official ruled out speculation, saying that the matter is dealt with transparently and that the coach chosen will be announced at the right time."

Ancelotti, while responding to the rumours said, "My situation is very clear. I have a contract with Real Madrid until 2024."

Ederson would hope a change in the managerial position will have a positive impact on his international career.

Under Tite, the custodian played second fiddle as Liverpool’s Alisson Becker remained a preferred number one choice.

Ederson, with his Manchester City teammates, remains in the race for the Premier League title, the FA Cup, and the Champions League, where they are in the quarter-finals.
