Australian sprint sensation Gout Gout has explained what went wrong at the Stawell Gift event where he was stunned in the semi-final to miss out on $40,000.
Australian wonderkid Gout Gout has blamed wet conditions for his loss at the Stawell Gift on Easter Monday.
Gout Gout suffered a rare defeat when he was beaten in the semi-final of the 120m by Adelaide school teacher John Evans, 28, who made it to the final and later won the $40,000 on offer.
In a race where only the winners of each of the six semi-final heats made it to the final, there were no margins for error for all those involved, including Gout Gout, but he could not match Evans, who won the race in 12.10 seconds off 9.75m.

"Obviously, running in the rain is a bit harder than usual, but you've just got to adjust and just keep running," Gout said after the race as quoted by MSN.
"He [Evans] was pretty ahead of me, so I tried my hardest hit, and he got me at the end, so it is what it is. Good run.
"I mean, this stuff you can't control. So, I mean, I just go out there and run and have fun. This meet is incredible, and the crowd's incredible, so I'm definitely happy to run and happy to be in the semi-final."
