Teenage sprint sensation Gout Gout was the reason why over 5000 people tuned up to watch the Australian Athletics Championships in Perth last weekend.
The 17-year-old has been making waves since shooting to prominence December last year during the Australian All Schools Athletics Championships.

Born in Ipswich, Queensland, to parents from South Sudan, who moved to Australia two years before he was born, Gout Gout won the Australian U20 100m title in Adelaide in April 2024, running a time of 10.48 seconds.
Gout Gout grabbed a silver medal in 200m with a personal best time of 20.60 seconds in 2024 during the U20 World Championships.
In December, he recorded the fourth-fastest U18 time in the world and the fifth-fastest all-time 100m run by an Australian, after cutting the tape in 10.04 seconds.
Gout Gout is tipped to take the sprinting mantle from his idol Usain Bolt as well as to challenge Olympic champion Noah Lyles at the World Championships this year in Tokyo.
