Australian sprint sensation Gout Gout will brush shoulders with world champions Femke Bol and Jakob Ingebrigtsen when he runs in Europe for the first time in June.

Fast-rising Australian sprinter Gout Gout is preparing for his first-ever race in Europe in two months’ time and he will be brushing shoulders with some of the world’s superstars.

The 17-year-old was confirmed for the Ostrava Golden Spike, set to take place on June 24 in the Czech Republic, and the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold has also attracted world champions Femke Bol and Jakob Ingebrigtsen.

World 400m hurdles champion Bol will feature in the 400m race in Ostrava and will be joined by rising star Lurdes Gloria Manuel, the world U20 champion, who was born in the Czech city.

Meanwhile, multiple world and Olympics champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen will run in Ostrava for the first time since 2022 although his distance is yet to be confirmed.

Gout Gout will make his European debut with the 200m race in Ostrava as he begins to get out of his ‘comfort zone’ back home.

The teenager has become a global phenomenon due to his knack for breaking records and timed 20.04 seconds last December to break the long-standing Oceanian record and also improve Usain Bolt’s world age-16 best.

Compared to legendary Bolt, Gout Gout has been living up to the hype after clocking 9.99 seconds in the Under-20 100m heats, at the Australian Athletics Championships in Perth last week, although his time did not count as he had a wind of +3.5 metres per second.

He then clocked 9.99 seconds in the final two hours later but unfortunately, the wind was +2.6 metres per second, denying him an official time yet again, while last month, he managed a wind-assisted 19.98 seconds in 200m.

Gout Gout will therefore hope to impress in Europe and announce to the world that he is ready to take the next step in his career following his meteoric rise.
