Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala will take a seven-week break from international competitions after the Diamond League Meeting in Paris, France on Friday, June 9.
The Commonwealth Games 100m champion revealed that after the Paris Meeting, his focus will now shift to the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary from August 19 to 27 where he intends to become the first Kenyan to win a gold medal over the 100m.

Paris Diamond League: Jacobs listed to take on Omanyala and Lyles in Kerley's absence
Marcell Jacobs is listed to compete at the Paris Diamond League, against tough competitors such as Ferdinand Omanyala and Noah Lyles.
In a post on his Twitter, he said: “It’s been a great experience in the diamond league circuit and of course the season so far. One last race before we take a seven-week break from international racing to prepare for the world championships coming in August in Budapest. See you Paris on June 9.”

So far this year, he has been to two Diamond League Meetings where he finished third at the Meeting in Rabat, Morocco, and second at the Meeting in Florence, Italy.
In Rabat, he was forced to settle for third after world champion Fred Kerley and former Africa 100m record holder Akani Simbine outclassed him. In Florence, he finished second behind Kerley.

The Commonwealth Games champion has been intensifying his training ahead of a third straight Diamond League showdown with the world champion.
He heads to Paris highly motivated to change and bid to win the first Diamond League title in his career against the deep field. Kerley will not be in the lineup but the race will surely promise to be a sprint showdown.
Olympic champion Marcel Jacobs, after withdrawing from two Diamond League Meetings, will now be competing in his first 100m race of the season. World 200m champion Noah Lyles will also be in the mix with the hope of extending his winning streak.
