Africa's fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala has added yet another accolade to his glittering collection by winning the 100m at a time of 10.12 seconds in the ASA Grand Prix staged at the Tuks Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The African record holder obliterated a strong field in typical fashion edging South African pair of Benjamin Richardson and Rivaldo Roberts, who came in second and third respectively.

Omanyala’s compatriot, Samuel Bitonyake Imeta came in fourth in 10:39. Last year, Omanyala won the third leg of the Athletics Grand Prix series at the NWU McArthur Athletics Stadium in Potchefstroom

In June 2022, Omanyala became the African 100m champion before he was eliminated in the semi-finals of the World Championships held in Eugene, Oregon in July, after arriving at the event only a couple of hours before his first-round heat due to visa troubles.

He then claimed Kenya's first gold medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, becoming the first Kenyan to win gold in the 100-meter race in 60 years.

Omanyala, who possesses an African record of 9.77sec has set sights on a gold medal in 100m at the World Athletics Championships planned for August 19 to 27 in Budapest, Hungary.
