Kenya’s middle-distance queen Faith Kipyegon has once again proven she is in a league of her own, claiming the women’s 1500m world record in breathtaking fashion at the 50th edition of the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene.
Kipyegon clocked an astonishing 3:48.68, shaving off fractions of a second from her own previous world record of 3:49.04, set in 2023.
Her performance thrilled the crowd at Hayward Field, capping off a historic night that also saw teammate Beatrice Chebet break the 5000m world record.
