Jamaican sprint legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has an extra reason to look forward to the Doha Diamond League following the announcement of a bumper reward for athletes who break the meeting record.
Fraser-Pryce will return to Doha for the first time since 2021, her first Diamond League race since 2022, making her among the star attractions in the Qatari capital.
Olympics champions Letsile Tebogo and Faith Kipyegon are the other star names set to light up Doha on Friday May 16 and organizers have announced that there will be a $5,000 bonus for each athlete that breaks a meeting record.

Two meeting records were set in Doha last year, American Kenny Bednarek in the 200m (19.67/+1.7) and Brazilian Alison dos Santos in the men’s 400m hurdles (46.86), and Fraser-Pryce, who will be running the 100m, as well as Tebogo (200m) and Kipyegon (1,500m) are among those who will be looking to do the same this year.
The bonus will be paid out besides the prize money for the top nine finishers in the Diamond League where winners are now pocketing $20,000, $10,000 for second place while $6,000 goes to third place.
