Multiple Olympics champion Faith Kipyegon has shared how the story of her historic sub-four-minute mile attempt was broken even before she was ready to reveal it.
Multiple Olympics champion Faith Kipyegon has expressed confidence that she can become the first woman to run a mile under four minutes.
Kipyegon has teamed up with her sponsors Nike to attempt what no woman has ever done, and that is to run the mile under four minutes, and she is backing herself to achieve it in June during the event dubbed Breaking4.
The 31-year-old is looking to emulate Roger Bannister, who did the same in 1954 with Nike believing that she can run 3:59.37.

“Somebody posted something, I think an article or something, and then many people were like Faith will be the first woman to run under four minutes in the mile,” Kipyegon said on Instagram.
“And I was like, who said it! It is not out there yet but yeah, it is a tough one.”
Kipyegon, who is the world record holder in the mile following the 4:07.64 clocked in 2023, expects a tough outing but is remaining upbeat nonetheless.
“For the mile, for a woman to run under four minutes is not easy. It is not something you are just going to pick it up and just smile that you got it,” she added.
