A look into three Jamaicans who could shake things up for Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in her return to the Diamond League in Doha.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will be lining up for her first Diamond League Meeting in Doha, Qatar on May 16 since 2022.

The 10-time world champion keeps proving she is unstoppable but the women’s 100m in Doha will put her to test, competing against young blood.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has already started her season, competing in the heats of the Velocity Fest #17 where she won before heading to the World Athletics Relays, where Jamaica’s women’s 4x100m relay team secured a bronze medal and a World Championships qualification.

In the heats of the women’s 4x100m in Guangzhou, China, Jamaica was anchored to a second-place finish by Shericka Jackson. In the final, they rounded up the podium, finishing third behind Great Britain and Spain.

After completing her team task, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce now begins her individual campaign, with her second 100m of the season scheduled for Doha.

In this article, Pulse Sports Kenya looks at the three Jamaican women who might stop Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce from continuing her winning ways.

1) Tina Clayton

Jamaican youngster Tina Clayton is a potential threat to Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s dominance at the Diamond League Meeting in Doha.

Tina started her season with a fifth-place finish at the Central Hurdles Relays and Field Events before rounding up the podium at the Astana Indoor Meet for Amin Tuyakov Prizes.

She also competed at the Tyson Invitational and the Gibson McCook Relays before winning the 60m race at the Jamaican World Indoor Qualifiers.

Tina Clayton kick-started her outdoor season with a sixth-place finish at the Miramar Invitational and would later head to the Velocity Fest #17, where she won the race.

She is fresh from competing at the World Athletics Relays with her mentor Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and has the much-needed confidence to make a mark in Doha.

2) Tia Clayton

Tia Clayton has been impressive so far this season, and she will not be backing down when lining up for the women’s 100m at the Diamond League Meeting in Doha.

She has been vocal about looking up to Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and beating her, just like she did at the 2024 Jamaican Olympic trials, will be a plus for the 20-year-old.

Tia Clayton started her season with a win at the Central Hurdles Relays and Field Events before claiming top honours at the Astana Indoor Meet for Amin Tuyakov Prizes and Gibson McCook Relays.

Tia would then finish second in the 200m at the Velocity Fest #16 before also settling for second at the Miramar Invitational. The Olympian would then win the 200m at the Velocity Fest #17 before debuting at the World Athletics Relays.

Now, as she eyes Diamond League glory after tasting victory at the 2024 Diamond League Meeting in Silesia, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce might be in for a huge surprise.

3) Natasha Morrison

Natasha Morrison lines up for competitions as an underdog with very high potential of silencing her rivals and as she goes to the Diamond League Meeting in Doha, she will be searching for her first 100m win of the season in a final.

Morrison started her season with a second-place finish at the Central Hurdles Relays and Field Events before also competing at the Tyson Invitational.

The 32-year-old, keenly following in the footsteps of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, also got a chance to represent Jamaica at the World Indoor Championships but did not make it past the semifinal of the 60m.

At the World Athletics Relays in China, Natasha Morrison competed in the mixed 4x100m relay and the women’s 4x100m relay.

As the Jamaican trio heads to the Diamond League Meeting in Doha, everyone has their own plans but one thing is for sure, they will all want to be associated with the legend, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.
