Reigning World champion Sha’Carri Richardson has extended her red-hot streak to the Diamond League Meeting in Zurich, Switzerland.

The 23-year-old crossed the finish line in 10.88 ahead of the Jamaican duo of Natasha Morrison and Elaine Thompson who finished second and third respectively.

Richardson has only been beaten in the 100m once so far this season, at the Gyulai István Memorial - Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix where she finished second. The American opened her season at the Miramar Invitational where she reigned supreme in the 100m.

She has been making headlines since the start of the season and has proven to be one of the greatest female sprinters. At the World Championships, she also stunned the duo of Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce who finished second and third places respectively.

Fraser-Pryce had gone into the race with the hope of defending her title but was forced to settle for third place. However, that was remarkable for her since she has been suffering from an injury setback.

On her part, Thompson was competing in her first Diamond League Meeting race this season and she had to dig deep for a third-place finish. This was only her third 100m race of the season since she did not compete at the World Championships.

She opened her season at the JAAA All Comers Meet where she won the race before finishing fifth at the Jamaican Championships. She has been undergoing several issues after changing her coach and her third-place finish is just a sign that she is slowly bouncing back.
