Kenya’s Kipchumba destroyed a string field and completely obliterated his compatriot Paul Lonyangata’s course record of 2:07:14 which was set back in 2015.

ATHLETICS Course records in danger as strong fields assemble for Sunday's Shanghai Marathon
The course records at the Shanghai Marathon will be in danger as strong fields have been assembled for the men's and women's races.
Kipchumba clocked 2:05:35 to cut the tape in style ahead of Tanzania’s Alphonce Simbu who timed 2:05:39 to finish second. Another Kenyan, Solomon Yego completed the podium after clocking 2:05:42.

Other Kenyans in the race include Kenneth Keter, Enock Onchari, and Nicholas Kirwa who finished fourth, fifth, and eighth in respective times of 2:05:53, 2:07:47, and 2:11:16.

ATHLETICS Emmanuel Wanyonyi plotting to break David Rudisha's 800m world record
Emmanuel Wanyonyi has made his intentions clear about breaking David Rudisha's world record.
Kipchumba will be closing the 2023 season a happy man since he has not lost any race, thanks to his hard work. He opened his season at the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon where he dominated.
He then extended the winning streak to the C&D Xiamen Marathon where he also reigned supreme before returning to China to finish business.
Meanwhile, the women’s race saw Dagne clock 2:21:28 to cross the finish line first ahead of Kenya’s Selly Chepyego who clocked 2:21:55 to finish second. Eunice Chumba completed the podium after clocking 2:22:20.

ATHLETICS Kenya's Lucy Mawia seeking to defend her title in Alcobendas
Lucy Mawia failed to finish the race last weekend in Soria and she will be seeking to right her wrongs in Alcobendas.
Other Kenyans in the race included Sandrafelis Tuei and Emily Arusio who finished fourth and fifth in respective times of 2:23:40 and 2:22:22.
