UK Athletics has announced the 2024 and 2025 Championships, pivotal for Olympic and World Trials.

UK Athletics has officially announced that the 2024 UK Athletics Championships will take place in Manchester at the Manchester Regional Arena on June 29 and 30, with Birmingham set to host the 2025 UK Athletics Indoor and Outdoor Championships.

This much-anticipated event is poised to return to the northwest, continuing its tradition since 2020, and is expected to serve as a pivotal Trials event for the Olympic Games, attracting a host of the UK's top athletes and para athletes as they vie for coveted spots on the team destined for Paris in the summer.

The 2024 Outdoor Championships promise not just fierce competition but also the chance for athletes to secure national titles, making it an indispensable fixture in the athletics summer season.

With the event drawing the best of UK’s athletic talent to Manchester, excitement is building for what is anticipated to be a showcase of top-tier athletics performance.

In 2025, Birmingham will take the baton, hosting both the indoor and outdoor editions of the national Championships.

The 2024 Indoor Championships, previously held at the Utilita Arena, are set to return there next year, while the Alexander Stadium will be the venue for the Outdoor Championships in the summer of 2025. This event will also serve as the official Trial for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, highlighting its significance in the athletics calendar.

Cherry Alexander, Strategic Lead for Major Events and International Relations at UK Athletics, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming events.

"We are coming off the back of hosting a superb World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, so we are delighted athletics fans will be able to watch our key events in various locations over the next 18 months and beyond.

The Championships are always a special event for athletes, coaches, clubs, and everyone involved in the sport, so we cannot wait to bring high-quality athletics back to the north of England in the summer of 2024," she said.

Echoing this sentiment, Neil Fairlamb, Manchester City Council's Strategic Director of Neighborhoods, highlighted the excitement surrounding the Championships' return to Manchester.

"It will be yet another weekend of electrifying competition and unforgettable athletics action at the Manchester Regional Arena ahead of the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games later this summer," he remarked.

Although Birmingham will not host this year's Championships, Craig Cooper, Strategic Director of City Operations, Birmingham City Council, shared his city's eagerness for the 2025 event.

"Those Championships will be important milestones as we prepare to host the European Athletics Championships in August 2026," he stated.

Cooper also reflected on the successful hosting of the UKA Indoor Championships at the Utilita Arena Birmingham earlier this year, reaffirming the event's status as a key fixture in Birmingham's annual events calendar.
