Julius Yego has enjoyed a career spanning over 10 years and has revealed that there is one major goal he has yet to achieve.
He has made four appearances on the Olympic stage, making his debut at the 2012 London Olympics and his latest appearance being at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

His personal best time currently stands at 92.72m, an African and national record, and he wants to go beyond that in a bid to make history.
Julius Yego is aware of the many athletes he has inspired, including being a source of motivation for Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala, among other athletes.

Ulinzi Sports Complex Cleared to Host Kip Keino Classic Amid Certification Concerns
Barnaba Korir has confirmed that the Ulinzi Sports Complex is ready and certified to host the Kip Keino Classic despite initial concerns.
“My legacy has not ended; I’ve inspired many people to take up different things. Ferdinand Omanyala, when he was struggling a bit, used to come and talk to me. I think I’m still able to leave a longer legacy, and I want to,” Julius Yego said in a press conference ahead of the Kip Keino Classic.
“I will only retire from the sport when my body refuses to get the job done… At the moment, I’m still young and ready to go. I will not retire until I go beyond my personal best time.”

Julius Yego added that he is not under any pressure to deliver ahead of the sixth edition of the Kip Keino Classic at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
He will face tough opposition from the likes of two-time world champion Anderson Peters, but he believes in his preparation and is ready to impress home fans.
“I’m not under any pressure because I know what I’m capable of doing. This is my second competition of the season, and I don’t want to rush myself into anything,” Julius Yego said.
