Fred Kerley has signaled a determined comeback after a dominant 200m win in Spain.

Fred Kerley has signaled that he’s far from done with elite sprinting following a dominant display in Spain.

The 2022 world 100m champion sent a strong message to his rivals after cruising to victory in the men’s 200m at the Meeting Canarias International on Saturday.

Kerley clocked a commanding 20.17 seconds to take first place, ahead of Brandon Hicklin (20.45s) and Jose Figueroa (20.69s).

Following the race, the American sprinter took to Instagram to reignite the fire of his comeback.

He posted a throwback video from his 2023 Rabat Diamond League victory, where he clocked a 9.94-second Meeting Record in the 100m, storming past stars Akani Simbine and Ferdinand Omanyala.

"There is no one like me, I am different, simple," Kerley declared.

The caption on his post read, “My brother said it’s time… back on my BS, let’s shake the room again.”

The message was a clear indication that Kerley is determined to reclaim his position among the sprinting elite.

Overcoming Recent Setbacks

Fred Kerley has had a shaky start to the campaign.

Kerley’s recent victory comes after a rocky start to his season, marred by both subpar performances and off-track distractions.

He missed the Miami leg of the Grand Slam Track series due to a reported run-in with law enforcement and had a disappointing showing at the Kingston meet in Jamaica, where he lost to his American rival Kenny Bednarek.

But with his latest win, Kerley seems to have turned the corner.

With major competitions ahead, including potential matchups with reigning Olympic champion Noah Lyles and an on fire Bednarek, Kerley is refocused and ready to reassert himself on the global stage.
