Emmanuel Wanyonyi will certainly have it rough at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games since his closest rival is not resting on his laurels as he unveiled his calendar of events building up to the global bonanza.

Word 800m silver medallist Emmanuel Wanyonyi should be on the lookout since his archrival Marco Arop, the reigning World 800m champion, is not resting on his laurels this Olympic season.

Arop already began his season with indoor races in the 800m and 1000m races where he won both. He started with the 800m race at the Razorback Invitational then proceeded to the 1000m race at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.

The Canadian now eyes the outdoor season where he intends to have a great build-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games coming up later this year.

The 25-year-old kicked off his outdoor season on Friday, March 22 in Starkville, Miss., with a 400m race and the 1500m. Arop had not raced a 400m in two years and his Personal Best time over the distance stands at 46.10 seconds, which he achieved at the same track at Mississippi State University in April 2022.

“The 2024 World Tour begins tomorrow. We open up with 400m and 1500m this weekend at the @hailstatetf Bull Dog Relays. I am looking forward to another incredible season ahead,” he shared on his Instagram last week.

After the Bull Dog Relays, the Canadian will be hoping to compete again at the Florida Relays on March 30 and as per the Canadian Running Magazine, he might run his first 800m of the outdoor season at the Xiamen Diamond League in China, the first Diamond League meet of the 2024 season.

Meanwhile, Wanyonyi is also not resting on his laurels after starting his season with a win in the 2km race at the Sirikwa Classic Cross Country. He will then compete at the World Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia on Saturday, March 30.
