Oliech has revealed what Gor Mahia have to do to be ready for next season's CAF Champions League

Former Harambee Stars striker Dennis Oliech has shared his insights on what Gor Mahia must do to become competitive in next season’s CAF Champions League.

Oliech, who played a crucial role for Gor Mahia during the 2018/2019 season, helping them reach the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, highlighted the need for better logistical and financial preparations.

The 20-time league champions are on the verge of qualifying for the tournament next season as they are set to win the title this year.

Last season, they did qualify for the tournament,  but had their CAF Continental license stripped off for failing to settle the dues of three of their former players in time.

Reflecting on his time with Gor Mahia, Oliech recounted the various challenges the team faced, including issues with air tickets and player allowances.

He emphasized that these problems need to be addressed to avoid negatively impacting the players' morale and performance.

"Gor have for the past years had challenges when it comes to participation in the continental assignments. Issues with air tickets, allowances, and many more should not arise this time round," Oliech told Citizen TV.

"It is very demoralizing for the players, and I hope the club leadership has put their house in order to make sure such things don't happen this time round."

Oliech also urged Kenyan clubs set to represent the country in CAF competitions to start securing venues for their home matches well in advance.

This proactive approach will help avoid last-minute inconveniences and ensure that the teams are well-prepared for their fixtures.

As Gor Mahia prepares for the upcoming CAF Champions League, Oliech's advice underscores the importance of thorough preparation and efficient management.

Addressing logistical challenges and ensuring proper player support will be crucial for the club's success on the continental stage. With the right measures in place, Gor Mahia can enhance their competitiveness and make a strong impression in the CAF Champions League next season.
