World and Olympics champion Beatrice Chebet has revealed the steps she is taking to develop the next generation of world beating female athletes from Kenya.
Olympics and world champion Beatrice Chebet is keen to help unearth the next generation of Kenyan runners as she is supporting a number of youngsters.
Chebet, who has risen to become one of the most successful middle-distance athletes in the world, knows if Kenya has to stay on top, then those coming through must be equally good and that is why she is supporting young female athletes.
The 5,000m world record holder is thrilled to see that some of those under wings are already flourishing having witnessed Fancy Chepkorir finish third in the U20 6km race at the Great Chepsaita Cross Country Run in Uasin Gishu county on Saturday.

Chepkorir clocked 22:07 to finish behind winner Joan Chepkurui, who stopped the clock at 21:34, and second-placed Mercy Kirwa, who timed 21:48, and Chebet, who equally rose to fame through cross country races, feels the youngster is one of those who will soon be flying Kenya’s flag.
“Fancy Chepkorir is my girl and I'm excited to see her perform well. I have a crop of youngsters that I'm supporting and I'm proud of them,” Chebet said after watching her prodigy put on a good show.
“As a senior athlete, I want to see the young athletes grow like Faith Kipyegon and I. I was impressed to see the young kids show up and run barefoot and running with passion, I think this is the best thing ever.”

“I hope that in the future, they will be champions and will perform well. When they believe in themselves, they will be great,” added the world 10,000m and 5,000m champion.
“The young kids should give themselves time and know that they will attain their goals. I hope they are going to progress well. I started with the junior races in 2017 and I'm now in the senior level. It was not easy but I want to urge the young athletes to run clean and give their all.”
