Beatrice Chebet, the reigning World Cross-country champion, has been confirmed for the XIX Cross Atapuerca, scheduled for Sunday, October 29.
The World 5000m bronze medallist has enjoyed a stellar 2023 season and she will be looking to extend her hot streak to the cross-country season.

Chebet will arrive at the CAREX permanent circuit of Atapuerca in a good moment of form since she has just won the World Championship on the road in the 5000km on October 1 in Riga.
She is also known to be a dominant force in the cross-country and she will be hoping to stamp authority one more time as she seeks points for the cross-country.
She already knows what it means to win in Atapuerca since last year she was the winner and in 2021 she was second and, without a doubt, she will try to continue adding victories in the Burgos cross country.
In the select group of favourites will be the Kenyan Grace Loibach Nawowuna, who was fourth in the 2023 World Cross Country Championships. She finished ninth in the 10,000m at the World Championships in Budapest.
In that same group will be the Ugandan Sarah Chelangat, winner of the Le Mans Cross in France this year and holder of her country's national records of 3000, 5000, and 10, 000, who will arrive after being 10th in the 10,000m final in the World Championship held in Budapest last August.
Meanwhile, Jakob Kiplimo, the current World Cross Country Champion, will be one of the great favorites to take the final victory in the men’s race.

Beatrice Chebet has disclosed why road running is yet to make it to the list of her favourite surfaces to race on.
The World Half Marathon record holder will be hoping to bounce back in the cross-country after an injury ruled him out of the World Championships in August.
Along with Kiplimo, athletes of the caliber of Aron Kifle and Merhawi Mebrahtu (Eritrea) have also confirmed their participation in the Cross Atapuerca.
Kifle won the Cross Atapuerca in 2021 and was Bronze in the Half Marathon World Championship (2018). On his part, his compatriot Mebrahtu won the Silver medal at the U20 World Cup in the 5,000 in 2022 and last year he was fourth in Atapuerca.
