Amos Kipruto has exuded a lot of confidence ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games where he believes Team Kenya will certainly carry the day.

The 2022 London Marathon champion Amos Kipruto has exuded confidence ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, noting that Team Kenya will win medals in the marathon.

Kipruto was selected among the provisional squad of 10 marathoners, including defending champion Eliud Kipchoge, Titus Kipruto, Vincent Kipkemboi, Timothy Kiplagat, newly-crowned Tokyo Marathon champion Benson Kipruto and the late Kelvin Kiptum.

Speaking to KTN News, the former world marathon champion said he believes his selection is not by fluke and want to repay the faith by doing better in Paris if he makes the final team.

“I know we shall be many and I promise that I will bring something to my country. I know there are only three medals and I believe that it is our time to deliver good results for our fans. We shall go and fight,” Kipruto said.

He is also aware of the tough competition that awaits them but he has no doubt that the team will definitely deliver.

Once again, Kipruto will be competing against five-time Berlin Marathon champion Kipchoge who has always beaten him.

Kipchoge beat Kipruto at the 2018 Berlin Marathon on his way to setting a world record and also stunned the 31-year-old at the 2022 Tokyo Marathon. Kipchoge would also floor Kipruto at the 2023 Berlin Marathon with the latter fading to seventh position.

“We all carry the same blood and we shall be going there as a team and we are really waiting for good results either for me or Eliud or Lawrence," he said.

“I will be happy when even one secures a medal…Competing against them is always teaching me a lot and taking me to higher levels because I’m still learning the ropes,” he said.
