Akani Simbine has sent a strong message to his sprint rivals, explaining why he is tough to beat when he gets on the relay anchor leg.

South African sprinter Akani Simbine has sent a defiant message to his rivals following his brilliant run at the World Athletics Relays Championships.

Simbine was on the anchor leg as he led South Africa to the 4x100m relay gold in Guangzhou, China last weekend following a great run on the final stretch to catch up with his rivals and beat them at the tape.

Bayanda Walaza was on the first leg, handing the baton to Sinesipho Dambile, who then gave it to Bradley Nkoana, before Simbine brought it home in style.
