Kelvin Kiptum has shared the basic foods he eats that have helped him maintain his great shape and make history.

Kelvin Kiptum has been making headlines recently owing to his dominant exploits at the Chicago Marathon that saw him break the marathon world record.

The 23-year-old clocked 2:00:35 to cross the finish line first and completely destroy Eliud Kipchoge’s world record time of 2:01:09 that he set during the 2022 Berlin Marathon.

Kiptum has been exemplary in his performance, winning all his marathons since he debuted last year. He won the Valencia Marathon in the fastest debut time ever. He then proceeded to the London Marathon earlier this year where he clocked the second-fastest time to win the race.

His recent victory was at the Chicago Marathon where he also impressed with his stunning performance. With his impeccable form, many might be wondering what Kiptum consumes.

As reported by Standard, ugali, rice, and indigenous vegetables are the common foods that propel Kiptum to his stunning performances.

Apart from maintaining his simple diet, Kiptum is also consistent in his training. Speaking during his homecoming party in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County, he also urged athletes to live simple lives and run clean.

“My biggest secret is training hard. I take simple meals which include ugali, rice, and indigenous vegetables,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kiptum will also be eyeing a slot at next year’s Olympic Games to be held in Paris, France where he will lock horns with Eliud Kipchoge.

Kipchoge will be eyeing his third successive win in the race but Kiptum will also prove to be a force to reckon with owing to his great form.
