The women's junior race will start at 8:10 a.m. Kenyan time while the men's will start at 8:50 a.m.
World Under-20 3000m Steeplechase champion Faith Cherotich and World Under-20 1500m champion Reynold Cheruiyot will be looking to fly the country’s flag high as they line up for the junior races at the World Cross-country championships on Saturday.
After her feat at the World Under-20 championships in Cali, Colombia, Cherotich will be looking to prove a point at the cross-country.
The 18-year-old carried her track momentum to cross-country when she won the Under-20 women’s race at the national trials in December.
Nancy Cherop is also one to watch when the junior women’s race starts. Cherop is the world Under-20 3000m bronze medalist. The duo will be joined by compatriots Pamela Kosgei and Joyline Chepkemoi.
The race has also attracted Ethiopia’s Melknat Wudu. Wudu is the World Under-20 5000m silver medallist and she will also be seeking a gold medal at the event. Compatriot Medina Eisa, the World Under-20 5000m champion will also be fighting for top honours.
Other Ethiopians in the race include Lemlem Nibret and World Under-20 3000m SC bronze medalist, Meseret Yeshaneh stands a good chance of winning their fourth successive team title in the U20 women’s race.

In the men’s category, Cheruiyot will be hoping to reclaim Kenya’s victory since 2011 when Geoffrey Kamworor took the honours.
At the national trials, Cheruiyot finished four seconds behind Ishmael Kirui. The youngster also clocked personal best times of 7:38.83 for 3000m and 28:36 for 10km on the roads, showing he has remarkable endurance as well as a great foot for speed.
Kirui is also a title prospect. He placed sixth over the 5000m at the African Championships last year. The team also includes Dennis Kipkirui and Daniel Kinyanjui.
Ethiopians will, however, be looking to give the Kenyan quartet a run for their money. Bereket Zeleke and Boki Diriba have been confirmed for the global event.
Ugandan Kenneth Kiprop will also be looking to make a mark as he lines up against the competitive field.
