Goalkeeper: Byrne Omondi

Ever-present between the posts, the new Gor Mahia goalkeeper has been impressive throughout the tournament and will keep his place.

Right-back: Lewis Bandi

Also signed by Gor Mahia this week, the former AFC Leopards full-back was impressive in a tough match against Morocco last Sunday and that should earn him another start.

Left-back: Aboud Omar

Siraj Mohammed took his place in the team against Morocco but the Harambee Stars captain will likely make a return to the starting XI given his experience.

The Gor Mahia defender is yet to miss a match and will continue his fine run in the squad.

Also signed by Gor Mahia this week, the ex-Tusker defender was impressive against Morocco and should beat Alphonce Omija to the starting place against Chipolopolo.

Central midfield: Manzur Okwaro

One of the most impressive players at CHAN 2024, the youngster has given McCarthy balance in midfield and is just undroppable.

Central midfield: Alpha Onyango

Man of the match in the opening match against DR Congo, the Gor Mahia man has dropped to the bench in the last two games but will likely be recalled against Zambia.

Attacking midfield: Austin Odhiambo

A surprise exclusion from the squad against Morocco, the Gor Mahia playmaker has two goals already and his chance creation and goal scoring is vital as Kenya looks for a win.

Left wing: Boniface Muchiri

The Ulinzi Stars winger has shown flashes of brilliance while his runs down the flank have caused defenders problems and will likely be deployed again.

Right wing: David Sakwa

The winger has missed out on the starting XI since playing against DR Congo but with a need to go all out attack, he could get the nod.

Striker: Ryan Ogam

The Tusker forward was the match winner against Morocco, when he scored the lone goal, and with his pace and finishing, he is a sure starter ahead of the other centre-forward options at McCarthy’s disposal.
