Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has reacted to the close finish in the men's division at the New York City Marathon.

 The race featured one of the most thrilling conclusions in the event's history, prompting the American track superstar to share her excitement on her Instagram handle with a series of emojis.

The men's elite race culminated in a breathtaking duel. In the final moments, Benson Kipruto was running towards victory; however, he faced a massive challenge from Alexander Mutis, who tried his best to register a strong win and snatch the victory from the Kenyan athlete. 

Ultimately, Benson Kipruto edged the victory with a margin of 0.2 seconds, clocking 2:08:09 in the closest finish in the marathon's history.

The race featured an incredible lineup of athletes that included Olympic gold medalist Eliud Kipchoge.While Eliud Kipchoge was away from the leading pack, the race leaders were pushing each other as they inched closer to the finish line, setting the stage for the dramatic final sprint.

The Olympic champion could not register a top 10 performance in his debut race, clocking 2:14:36 and falling short of the high expectations set by his legendary career.

Despite the result, the race marked a career milestone for Kipchoge. With the New York City Marathon, he completed all seven marathon majors in his career.

The world-record holder made an appearance at the pre-race event at the New York City Marathon pavilion, speaking to the upcoming generation of athletes and inspiring them about work ethic and discipline.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone shared valuable advice with youngsters, drawing from her own experience. 

The American athlete spoke about dealing with fatigue and feeling unmotivated after a long workout session. The Olympic gold medalist stressed the importance of recovery, sharing how a good diet and good sleep are key.

"It can definitely be tiring for sure after long practices, but I think just sleeping and recovery is very helpful for that. Eating enough, drinking enough, getting enough sleep.

“But I think sometimes when I start to feel tired and fatigued mentally, I just remind myself that it is one day at a time and just taking one moment at a time, not getting overwhelmed, and ultimately I am grateful that I pushed through that moment," she said.

After a successful 2025 season, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone hopes to return to the track with a stronger motivation and purpose next year, embodying the resilience she spoke of.
