Harambee Stars face Seychelles in their second leg match of the World Cup qualifiers, and they will be hoping to replicate what they did in their first leg encounter.

Harambee Stars thrashed Seychelles 5-0 in a match played at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan, Ivory Coast, in November 2023. Michael Olunga scored a brace, with Masoud Juma, Benson Omala and Rooney Onyango also finding the back of the net.

Job Ochieng revealed that the team has put behind their 3-1 loss to The Gambia, noting that they fought till the end, but their efforts were not enough to secure a win.

The Real Sociedad forward added that as they go up against Seychelles, one thing is on their mind, to get the maximum points, something he knows is doable.

“The team has moved on from the loss, and everyone is focusing on the next game, to get the three points, because you could see that we didn’t win, but the team spirit was there, and we kept on fighting. I believe that in the next game, things will be better,” Job Ochieng said.

Benni McCarthy called up Job Ochieng first time ever, following his impressive showing for his side as he scored once in two league appearances so far this season.

“Obviously, Job has been playing regularly, and he even scored in his last game. He’s a player we’ve been interested in for a while,” Benni McCarthy said.

“He plays on the wing, which is an area where we need top-quality players—players with speed, ability, and a goal-scoring threat. So, really, it was just a matter of time before I called him up. The time is right now.”

With lessons learnt from their loss to The Gambia, Job Ochieng believes Harambee Stars have all it takes to bounce back against Seychelles.
