We are really sorry - Ancelotti apologises as Arsenal double injury blow
Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti has expressed his regret to Arsenal and Mikel Arteta after defender Gabriel Magalhães sustained an injury during a friendly match against Senegal on Saturday.
The Seleção, who have already qualified for the 2026 World Cup, secured a 2-0 victory with goals from Chelsea's Estevão and Manchester United's Casemiro.
However, the win was marred when Gabriel was forced off the pitch just after the hour mark with an adductor problem.
What Ancelotti said
Following the match, Ancelotti addressed the situation, stating that he was unsure of the severity of the injury.
He said, "I don't know if it's bad; he had a problem with his adductor. The medical staff will have to check tomorrow. We are really sorry for this, really disappointed. When players get injured, I hope they can recover well and soon."
Gabriel has been a cornerstone for Arsenal this season, contributing two goals and appearing in all 17 of the club's matches.
His form has been crucial to the Gunners' campaign as they aim for their first Premier League title in 23 years.
Currently leading the league by four points and maintaining a perfect record in the Champions League, Arsenal's squad depth will now be tested.
Arteta faces another defensive headache as Riccardo Calafiori has also returned to the club with an injury.
Calafiori had joined the Italian national team with a pre-existing groin issue. Italy's manager, Gennaro Gattuso, confirmed on Saturday that the 23-year-old has been sent back to London after failing to recover in time for their match against Norway.
