U-turn on decison - Pep Guardiola changes his mind again about the future
Tied to Manchester City for two more seasons until the end of 2026/27, Pep Guardiola had previously hinted at his intention to take a break then.
However, he has now backtracked and even admitted the possibility of extending his contract at the club.
What Guardiola said
“I have two years left on my contract, maybe I'll renew for another two. The question is about when I'll stop, whether it's this year, or in two or four years... I will rest, but right now, I'd say I feel good,” the Catalan manager assured the Men in Blazers platform, via Sportal.
And Pep's love for the city of Manchester could play a decisive role in his decision. “I love this city. When you've been in a certain place for 10 years, it's because you feel good.
"I can't ask for more. The world of football has been overly generous to me,” continued Guardiola, who, at 54, has begun his 10th consecutive season at the helm of the Citizens.
These statements come a few weeks after the manager admitted the need to take a break from his career “as soon as this chapter” at the English club ends.
“It's decided, more than decided, even. I don't know how long I'll stop for, whether it's for one, two, three, five, or ten years, but I will stop when I leave City to focus on myself and my body,” he mentioned in a recent interview with GQ Spain.
Meanwhile, the Citizens have started the new Premier League season with an impressive 4-0 victory against Wolves.
