The forward, who now plays for French club Marseille, was handed his only senior England cap in 2020 but, after years of controversy, has not played for the national team since.

After leaving Manchester United for a loan spell with Getafe in Spain, the 23-year-old was sold to Marseille in July 2024, rebuilding his career in France, where he scored 21 goals last season.

Greenwood has been exploring a switch of allegiance to Jamaica through his grandfather and has reportedly obtained a Jamaican passport. However, he has asked for more time to make a final decision, leaving the door open for a potential return to the England setup.

Speaking on Friday, Tuchel revealed that there have been no talks with Greenwood or his camp. While he did not rule out a future return, he stated that the forward is nowhere near his immediate plans for the team.

“I have not spoken to him until now. I have not spoken to him or his camp.

My understanding was that he tries to play for Jamaica, so we didn’t give it another thought. He was not in the mix at the moment and he is not in our thoughts for our team.

I don’t rule anything out, but he is no priority at the moment.”
