That is clear — Liverpool boss Arne Slot makes Premier League title admission
Arne Slot has acknowledged that his team are the frontrunners to clinch the Premier League title again this season, but he emphasized that this status stems from their performance rather than their huge transfer outlay.
The Reds have made significant investments this summer to strengthen Slot’s squad, signing Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Armin Pecsi, and Freddie Woodman, while also pursuing a record-breaking move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, which could mark the most expensive transfer window ever.
While these additions clearly boost Liverpool’s title chances for 2025-26, Slot argued that their relatively modest net spend in previous seasons undermines the idea that spending alone drives their chances.
“That we are favourites because we won it last season and we played so well, that’s clear,” Slot told the media.
“For me, it would not be normal if it’s about spending, because the net spend of us compared to the other teams is not in our favour.
"If you look at the last two seasons. So if we are only favourites because we’ve spent a bit, I would see that as weird, because we’ve lost a lot as well.”
Liverpool are in action against Crystal Palace in the Community Shield this Sunday, before kicking off the Premier League with a home game against Bournemouth.
