Former Manchester United star Paul Pogba has signed a two-year contract with Monaco, marking his return to professional football after serving an 18-month doping ban.

The 32-year-old midfielder was visibly emotional as he signed the deal, breaking down in tears. Paul Pogba was slapped with a four-year suspension in September 2023 after failing a drug test.

His results came out in February 2024, but the ban was backdated to September 2023, when he took the drug test. He had tested positive for DHEA, which boosts testosterone levels.

Paul Pogba's suspension was reduced to 18 months after a successful appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport. His contract with Juventus was mutually terminated during this period.

The move to Monaco offers Paul Pogba a chance to reignite his club career and potentially earn a spot on the French national team for the 2026 World Cup.

In a video released by the club, Paul Pogba was overwhelmed with emotion, putting his head in his hands and wiping away tears after signing the contract.

Paul Pogba briefly expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thank you for the trust," and added, "La renaissance" (The rebirth), hinting at a career revival in Monaco.

Paul Pogba last played a competitive match for Juventus in September 2023 against Empoli. His last full 90-minute appearance was for Manchester United in March 2022.

His most recent international cap for France came in a 5-0 friendly victory against South Africa on March 29, 2022.

During his time away from the game, Paul Pogba was linked with various clubs, including Marseille, Manchester City, Corinthians, a potential return to Manchester United, and several MLS teams. He ultimately chose Monaco, who finished third in Ligue 1 last season.

Despite 91 appearances for France and a World Cup victory in 2018, Paul Pogba has never played in the French top division.
