All is set for the third edition of the HRA Youth Cup, over 800 players set for battle in different categories.
The championship will witness different clubs battling in different categories ranging from the U-8, U-13, U-16, and women’s categories and topnotch of free Age.
The Holiday vacation tournament is sponsored by the Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area in Conjuction with Ghetto Tigers.
The tournament will be played in two venues, Ilupeju Secondary School and Abati Barrack Field.
The opening match and ceremony will take play at Ilupeju secondary school on Saturday 22nd July 2023 while the Grand Finale will be held on Sunday 3rd September 2023 at Abati barrack.
Why we are organizing the HRA Youth Cup
The chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Hon. Rasaq Olusola Ajala, revealed the brain behind organizing the annual holiday football championship.
He added that the competition is aimed to engage the youths during the long vacation.
He said, "The HRA Youth Cup is a grassroots competition and it seeks to productively engage the youth population through football and more importantly during the long vacation.
"The first two editions had more clubs based in Mushin and Surulere.
"However, the competition has now become a Southern Affair with all 3 geo-political zones(South East, South West, and South-South) all having teams in the competition."
The chairman addded that 120 matches will be played with 50 teams registered.
"In all, we are hosting, 50 teams, 800 football players, 100 coaches, and 120 matches and we will have 5 champions in 7 weeks of breathtaking football actions."
The opening game will kick off by 2 pm on Saturday between Ghetto Tigers Ladies and Young Achievers Queens.
