Nigeria, ranked 41st globally by FIFA, enters the play-offs as the highest-seeded nation among the contenders and is set to face Gabon in the semi-final.

A victory against Gabon would advance the Super Eagles to a final showdown against either Cameroon or DR Congo.

The winner of that match will secure a place in the inter-confederation play-off in March 2026, taking one final step toward the World Cup finals.
