Simy Nwankwo risks club’s wrath after watching Osimhen in the Champions League
Nigerian forward Simy Nwankwo has risked punishment from his current club Benevento after he was pictured watching compatriot Victor Osimhen in Napoli’s UEFA Champions League quarterfinal second-leg against AC Milan.
Nwankwo went AWOL to watch Osimhen
Nwankwo travelled to Naples to support Osimhen as the Partenopei man made history in the Champions League against Milan although Napoli were eventually knocked out 2-1 on aggregate after losing the reverse fixture 1-0 in Milan.
As it turns out the Benevento striker, currently on loan from Salernitana had not taken permission from his Serie B club and fans of Gli Stregoni have taken issue with his decision to go AWOL to attend the Champions League fixture.
The anger of the fans and club management is said to be due to the precarious nature of Benevento’s season, which sees them last in Serie B, fighting for their future in the league.

The Nigerian forward has drawn the ire of his club and its fanbase after making the trip to Naples as the team prepares for a crucial tie against Palermo on Saturday, where they hope to end their current streak of zero wins in their last eight Serie B matches.
Benevento have only won once in their last 15 matches, losing nine times in that period and the fans are understandably short on patience, especially with Nwankwo who is yet to score a league goal this season in 22 matches.
