Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has warned Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen ahead of a busy summer transfer window for him.
Osimhen’s future has been the subject of debate all season, with the Super Eagles star expected to spark a bidding war among Europe’s elite clubs.
Osimhen to spark a transfer war
The 24-year-old’s form this season is attracting interest from Europe’s top clubs, who are expected to make a bid for him.
Osimhen has been on fire for his club Napoli in both Serie A and the Champions League, even though the Neapolitans were knocked out of Europe’s elite competition on Tuesday night.
The Super Eagles star has scored 26 goals and created another five in 31 games for Luciano Spalletti’s men this season.
Osimhen currently leads Serie A’s scoring charts with 21 goals in 24 matches and has another five goals in six Champions League games this season.
His impressive form has caught the attention of Europe’s heavyweights, with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Chelsea all linked to his services.
Drogba warning for Osimhen
However, Drogba has warned Osimhen to be careful when he makes his decision. The former Chelsea striker warned the Super Eagles star against a move to PSG, saying it is not what his career needs right now.
“If he (Osimhen) is really in the sights of a club like PSG,” Drogba told Canal Plus as per United in Focus.
“It shows the full extent of his talent and the season he is having.
“But PSG is not the club he needs to continue his progress.”
Nonetheless, it remains to be seen if Napoli will be willing to sell their top striker this season. The Neapolitans have always maintained that Osimhen is not for sale, but could sell if they receive an offer they cannot refuse.
Osimhen still has two years left on his contract, having joined Napoli from Lille for a club-record fee of €75.00m.
