The Jamaican sprint queen will be lining up for the women's 400 meters at the Velocity Fest 18 meet in Kingston, Jamaica. This marks her return to the one-lap event for the first time in three years.

Shericka Jackson, who holds back-to-back world titles in the 200m, will open her individual campaign at the National Stadium.

The race is part of her early-season conditioning as she revisits the 400m, an event she last competed in during 2023.

While this is her first individual race of the year, Shericka Jackson was recently in action at the Gibson McCook Relays last month. She anchored a Jamaican select team to a record-breaking victory in the 4x100m relay.

Shericka Jackson Injury

However, Shericka Jackson faced a challenging period in 2024 after a nagging injury forced her to withdraw from the Paris Olympic Games.

The setback occurred just weeks before the Olympics when she pulled up while leading a 200m race at the Gyulai István Memorial in Hungary.

Following a dedicated recovery period under the guidance of coach Stephen Francis, Jackson successfully returned to global competition in April 2025 at the Xiamen Diamond League.

She steadily rebuilt her form throughout that season, eventually securing a silver medal in the 4x100m relay and a bronze in the 200m at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

Meanwhile, at 31, Shericka Jackson is celebrated as one of the most versatile athletes in the sport. She is the second-fastest woman in history over 200m with a time of 21.41 seconds (2023) and the sixth-fastest in the 100m at 10.65 seconds. Her 400m personal best of 49.47, set in 2019, ranks her among the top 50 all-time.

Shericka Jackson's illustrious career includes 15 global medals. Her collection of world titles features the 4x400m relay (2015), the 4x100m relay (2019), and consecutive 200m golds in 2022 and 2023. She also won Olympic gold in the 4x100m relay at the Tokyo Games in 2021, in addition to two Olympic silver and three bronze medals.
