Duncan Ayiemba believes that the mental and physical hurdles are now behind them. He noted that the main objective of competing indoors is to sharpen Ferdinand Omanyala's start, an area identified for improvement.

"The indoor season for us is a means to an end; we are still on course," the coach explained as quoted by Mozzart Sport.

"The objective is to work on the start, which has been improving. We want to perfect it so that by the time we start the outdoor season, we are good to go."

Duncan Ayiemba has been focused on keeping his athlete's morale high, reminding him of his elite status in global sprinting.

The coach emphasised that despite recent setbacks, Ferdinand Omanyala remains a formidable competitor capable of world-class times.

"I usually remind him that he is still the beast," Ayiemba said. "Currently, no new guy has reached his level. That is a motivation... I tell him not to be worried because he is still the best."

Ferdinand Omanyala Had an Injury

At the same time, Duncan Ayiemba also attributed the sprinter's challenging start to the indoor season to a lingering injury, but remains confident that Africa's fastest man is on the road to recovery.

Duncan Ayiemba explained that Ferdinand Omanyala's recent performances were hampered by an injury sustained late last season.

The discomfort, which affected his hip, iliopsoas, and gluteal muscles, had previously forced the Kenyan star to withdraw from the Diamond League Final.

According to the coach, the primary goal of the indoor campaign was not to win medals but to gauge Omanyala's physical response after a difficult recovery period.

"Going to the indoors, he was not very fit because he was coming off an injury," Ayiemba stated. "It was like testing his body and seeing if he could work with the little training we had done. He was not fully healthy, but he was coming up well, and I can say he did his best."

Ferdinand Omanyala's struggles were apparent at the Elite Indoor Track Miramas Meeting, where he finished eighth in the 60m final with a time of 6.86 seconds. This followed a fourth-place finish in his heat at the Meeting de Paris Indoor, which saw him miss out on the final.
