Although Australia went on to win the final 2-0, Sam Kerr acknowledged the competitive challenge posed by the hosts, with Harambee Starlets putting up a spirited performance and making the contest far tougher than the scoreline suggested.

Sam Kerr revealed that the tour in Kenya had been a highly enjoyable and rewarding experience for the Australian team, noting that the matches were challenging due to both the opposition and unfamiliar playing conditions.

She explained that the environment pushed them in ways they were not used to, which made the overall experience even more valuable for their development.

Sam Kerr also highlighted the warm reception they received throughout their stay, praising the hospitality of the Kenyan people and the electric atmosphere created by the fans during the matches.

Kerr added that the support from the crowd stood out as a major highlight of the trip, making the experience even more memorable. She went on to express appreciation for the kindness shown to the team and indicated her desire to return in the future and give back to the supporters who made their visit so special.

“Yeah, it was quite enjoyable for us, to be honest. We really enjoyed being here. I think they were tough games, tough conditions, things we're not used to, so it was quite a good experience for us, and we really enjoyed being here in Kenya,” Sam Kerr said.

“Everyone was so welcoming and nice, and the crowd was amazing tonight, so it was a really enjoyable experience. As I said, the Kenyan people have been so welcoming, so lovely, and yeah, I can't wait to go see them and give back to them.”

Sam Kerr noted that every occasion that showcases the women’s game is valuable, and expressed hope that tournaments like the FIFA Series would lead to more competitive opportunities for countries that do not regularly get to play international fixtures.

She explained that, unlike many developing football nations, top teams benefit from frequent matches, and she hoped that increased exposure would highlight the positive impact football can have in uniting people.

She added that events like this could play a key role in accelerating the growth of women’s football across Africa, describing the experience and atmosphere as something truly special.

“Of course, every opportunity where the women's game is on show is a great opportunity, but I hope it gives more opportunities for these types of countries to have more games,” Sam Kerr revealed.

“We're lucky we play games most weekends, so hopefully people see what the game can do, and it brings people together, and hopefully it only grows the women's game in Africa more. Yeah, it's beautiful.”
